Joel Friedlander's guest posted tips on having a successful author event with book reading. Don't read too long because the audience can get antsy, especially if you have not mastered the art of reading with feeling. Seven to ten minutes is plenty. The audience is most interested in why and how you wrote the book and especially about insights into characters and plot.
