2005 St. Louis Book Festival & Craft Art Fair
General Information

The St. Louis Publishers Association announces the second annual St. Louis celebration of books and reading. This 3-day event will be held  at The Muny in Forest Park October 21, 22 and 23, 2005. St. Louis broadcaster and author Charlie Brennan and award-winning author & reporter Mary Kimbrough are honorary festival chairpersons.

Local and national published authors and craft-artists will display their goods at the festival. The celebration opens Friday evening with a ticketed author reception, a fundraiser party in support of the CREATE Foundation. Saturday and Sunday are open to the public, giving two full days of browsing and buying time. In addition, the festival will include a variety of family fun.

Friday

7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Ticketed Author Reception, to benefit the CREATE Foundation. (Promendade vendors will receive 2 tickets to this opening celebration. Vendors are encouraged to open their booths!)

Saturday

9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Open-to-public Book Festival & Craft Art Fair. No charge for general admission.

9:00 a.m Seminar: Medicare’s New Drug Program and Q&A presented by Medicare. No charge.

10:00 a.m.  Seminar: “Writing Your Family's History,”  presented by the St. Louis Public Library. No charge.

10:00 a.m. Featured author: Carrie Kabak, author of novel Cover the Butter. No charge.

11:00 a.m. Featured author: Richard Burgin, award winning author of nine books, including The Identity Club.  No charge.

12:00 noon Featured author: Mark Tiedemann, author of ten scientific-fiction novels, including Remains.  No charge.

11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Seminar “How to Publish Your Book,” presented by the St. Louis Publishers Association. No charge.

1:00 p.m. Featured author: Ruth-Miriam Garnett, author of the novel Laelia. No charge.

2:00 p.m. Seminar: “Book Promotion Basics for the Bold and the Bashful”, presented by SPAWN (Small Publishers, Artists and Writers Network) President Patricia Fry. No Charge.

2:00 p.m. Featured author: Susan McBride, Anthony Award finalist and author of The Maggie Ryan series of novels No charge.

3:00 p.m. Featured author: Elaine Viets, Anthony Award winning author. Her most recent novel is Dying in Style No charge.

Sunday

10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Open-to-public Book Festival and Arts & Crafts Fair. No charge for general admission.

10:00 a.m Seminar: Medicare’s New Drug Program and Q&A presented by Medicare. No charge.

10:00 a.m. Featured author: Patricia Fry, president of SPAWN (Small Publishers, Artists and Writers Network) and author of 18 books.  No charge.

11:00 a.m. Seminar:  “How to Search Your Family’s History”, presented by the St. Charles City-County Library District. No charge.

11:00 a.m. Featured author: Mickey Carroll, St Louis' favorite Wizard of Oz Munchkin. No charge.

12:00 noon Featured author: Scottie Priesmeyer, novelist and non-fiction author. Most recently, A Quick Guide to Writing a Book: From Ideas to Publication. No charge.

1:00 p.m. Seminar:  “How to Write a Book,” presented by author and professor Scottie Priesmeyer. No charge.

1:00 p.m. Featured author: Bobbie Smith, the Queen of Western Romance, with more than five million copies of her novels in print. No charge.

2:00 p.m. Featured author: Laura Bradford, author of the Jenkins & Burns mystery series. No charge.

3:00 p.m. Featured author: Vince Flynn, espionage/political thriller novelist. His most recent novel is Consent to Kill.  No charge.

3:00 p.m. Contest Winners' Ceremony: Featuring special guest Michelle Bain, author of Thumbs-up Johnnie & Banker Bill. No charge.
